Babuyan Fridays!

Went out with two of my most favorite people and it was crazy! Our tummies went crazy, UST went crazy, everything went crazy! UST will forever be our meet up place and I’m sure this does not solely apply to our group. Also, I can’t remember the last time I was there, considering I live just a few blocks away. So near yet so far ang drama.

Anyway, KC was a little late so my bestfriend Karen and I had to meet up first and, HOMGGG we were so surprised at how the carpark building looks so much different now. Let’s see there’s Pancake House, BonChon Chicken.. I couldn’t recall the rest. Of course nandun pa rin ang McDo, KFC, Higher Grounds (of which clingy scent, or ODOR I could still recall. I’m sure everybody does. HAHAHA), Ice Monster, Imperial Kitchen, Greenwich.. My personal favorite, Ate Eva’s Grill and Pizzarollicious.. Pero ang pinaka unkabogable sa lahat ay ang 7-11 sa loob ng UST! It literally has tables and chairs for the students and to our awe, we took a few pics like we were outsiders and first timers. OFW ang peg.

Here’s KC and Karen in front of 7-11! (Wala nang Beanhoppers Coffee and Goldilock’s)

It was not supposed to be part of the blog but, whyyyy?? Bakit kung kelan wala na kami?! Hahaha. Anyway, vvvroom we go to Global City! Wow parang wala ako dun nung umaga. (I’ve been there in the morning for Victory’s Race For Life 2012 –but that’s another story.) So ano pa nga ba’t nagchismisan kami agad sa byahe! Hehe :P

Karen invited us to Mercato where his boyfriend Noel has a shawarma stall. M-E-R-C-A-T-O!! The fact that I work in BGC and haven’t gotten there ever is nothing less but ironic, so I was really excited!

Helloooo Noel!

IMG_6694

Authentic Lebanese shawarma! Noel’s brother, Nathan, makes the dishes and sobrang yummy! You guys might wanna check it out when you’re there. The chicken shawarma is only Php70!

IMG_6692

Okay here’s the fun part. While waiting for our shawarma we took the chance to go around. LOOK WHAT WE’VE FOUNDDD!

WARNING: May cause extreme cravings.

IMG_6703I SAW ISAW!!:) I had the large stick for Php 40. Happy Halloween!

IMG_6697This one looks familiar from college. And ngayon ko lang nalaman yung tawag dito. “DYNAMITE”. Sabagay, mukha naman. Dynamite din sa anghang. They should have removed the seeds and added more cheese :/

IMG_6713After the mighty dinner, we decided to hangout at the Big Bad Wolf! My newest favorite hangout place! Just look at my Instagram pic the other day ;) And, oh yeah they didn’t let me pay for the bill on my first visit so THANK YOU BBW! May acronym na talaga? Hahaha

Went back to Mercato because we got hungry! Woop woop! Yeah we’re monsters like that. KC and I shared an order of this fulfilling shabu shabu. Sobrang solb. I love shabu shabu! This, and a few other stuff I’ve put on my tummy before we left like chocolate peanut butter cheesecake. Hehe

Had so much fun! Glad to hear Karen’s going to be Manila based again soon so we’re going to see each other more often. More babuyan foodventures to come!

Hooray for food! Hooray for friends!

Tuscano -Italian Wood Oven Pizza

Someday, I dream of traveling to Rome and having a slice of an authentic wood oven pizza. I am so much inlove with it because it’s 95% less oily than your regular baked pizza. Thus, less guilt! Hehe. Meanwhile, while my current budget capacity doesn’t permit me to travel to Rome, I will enjoy nomming on wood oven pizzas from the local pizzerias. Today’s food adventure is at Tuscano!

Hi Mar!

I was hoping it would work okay -_-

Complimentary bread, and a pitcher of fresh lemonade. Love the lemonade, so refreshing!

Yung pag may lakad kayong magbabarkada tapos ikaw ang may dalang bag.. Bag na din yun ng lahat. Locker? Hahaha This is Mar’s :) *oo na magulo na bag ko.*

Top of the list ;)

Cozy ambiance!

Wild mushrooms pasta

Pizzaaaaa! Half meat, half seafood

Indications of a wood oven pizza. Yum!

The Ghost of Krisha. *Weh*

Maybank recently announced it’s corporate tie-up with Tuscano and they’re giving away a free Tiramisu for Maybankers! Yay!

Tuscano is located at Burgos Circle, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

I Know What You Did On Mother’s Day

I missed my family. I missed taking them out and having lunch with them. The day’s lunch after the MYOH event was very fulfilling, both on the tummy and the heart :) *NAKS*

Sisterette! Hehe.

The uncomfortable look. Haha

Cool Banana Leaf ceiling!

Good for 3! Missin dad!

Their ‘iced milk tea Hong Kong style’ is da best! I might actually buy one for take-out one of these days :))

Mrs. Fields’ cookie nibblers fan

Healthy choices! I wish I could find something like this in Greenhills.

From the looks of it, this might just be better than Subway! Well, tastewise siguro. And presentation. Hehe

Colorful fruits!

Paparazzi-ed shopping lipstick by Mean.

Happy Mother’s Day, mom! I know I am not a perfect daughter, but I look up to you for your tireless efforts on always looking out on Mean and I despite the physical absence of our father. Pasaway ako but I love you, that’s for sure, and I will (as always) strive hard to make you guys proud.

Manila Ocean Park

“Fish are friends, not food.” -Anchor, Chum, and Bruce (Finding Nemo)

Perhaps one perk of my job is getting a chance to have lots of connections. Manila Ocean Park happens to be the company’s client, and we held an activity there some time last April where I met this girl from their marketing department. Thank you Joyce for hooking me up with 2 awesome tickets! Yay! So there I surprised Louie with the park tickets and he was so cute getting excited and all. Hehe.

We had our late lunch at Pancake House. While waiting for the food, I took a little sneak into Facebook and my timeline updated with a gig sched from Razorback! Little die-hard-fan-boy instantly had that YES-TARA-MAMAYA-SAAN-BA-YAN face, and the rest was history. Hahahahaha. But first, we had to enjoy the ocean park (and food)!

Louie’s BLT

Since I was on a strict(???) diet, I had to get something from their brown rice dishes. Spicy chicken fillet with brown rice pilaf!

Sharing blueberry pancakes

The pancake had a baby!

Next, park!

Pretty lights

Did I mention it was my birthday gift for him too? Hahahaha

Now that’s something I wanna try in time for feeding frenzy

About to ride the glass-bottom boat

Here’s the fun part: FISH SPA! I was planning to insert the movie clip I took while we were on it and realized it was nothing short of a nonsense video. Sobrang puro tawa lang, and I can’t even concentrate kasi sobrang nakaka-kiliti. Hahahaha!! You’ll get used to the nibbling after a few minutes :)

Sabi ni kuyang taga fish spa, pag marami daw nibble fish ang nasa feet mo, marami/makapal dead skin mo. Hi Louie, alam na!

Souvenir heaven! So colorful!

Louie is a shark fan. Hehe

..and apparently, starfishes too. Cute!

So.. many… Nemo eyes staringggg

I want!

It was my second time to be there, and I was so happy with the huge improvements! Next time, I will try the Aquanaut! I’m not going to spoil anymore the colorful fish pictures, so it is up to you to just visit them there :) Also, I’m creating a separate blog for the Razorback gig which was after this trip. I have one concern before I end the blog though. Somebody told us that a lot of fishes have died due to flash photography! :( I have noticed a lot of people not following the warning signs and it really annoyed me. The ocean park staff should implement a more strict policy for this, or the fishes will sacrifice. Remember, fish are friends!

Gayuma ni Maria

I remember Krisha (I shall have a picture of her posted in this blog, soon. hahaha) inviting me to hit Maginhawa Street and try out this restaurant called Gayuma ni Maria (which roughly means Love Potion of Maria). The restaurant name itself is thought-provoking so I gave her a laugh in response to the invite. Don’t get me wrong, I got so curious and thought it was a very interesting place. Unfortunately, we didn’t have a single chance to go there so I grabbed the opportunity of paying it a visit after THE Lou shoot at UP. Hahaha.

It was kind of hard to find because it’s a little too far from the “food district” of Maginhawa. This one is almost near Anonas. Plus they didn’t have flashy signs, so to avoid difficulties spotting it, keep your eyes focused along the street! It looks pretty much like a residential house turned into a restaurant. Good news! It has ample parking space so, yay! This restaurant has an aphrodisiac concept. Everything, as in EVERYTHING is in accordance to the theme, and I find it very creative!

Dessert menu

Look at the different gayuma recipes decorated on the wall!

A closer look at one of the “gayuma recipes”. Each recipe is complete with description/purpose of love potion, materials needed, instructions, and even the perfect moon phase to “cook” the recipe! I wonder if it really works though. (As if naman may paggagamitan ako nito. Hahahaha)

Love potion recipe!

Louie actually said (in a serious manner):

“Paano kaya ako makakakuha ng hair strand?”

Don’t worry, I will lend you my hairbrush.

Loooove the ambiance!

He got the Nilasing ni Eba si Adan. Pork loin marinated in beer and apple! Yum!

And I got the Please Be Careful With My Heart, which comes with a serving of a whole garlic! I love garlic! Vampires, beware.

“The rice” na lang siguro yung caption nito, para safe. If you know what I mean. Hehe. Creativity points, plus 3!

Better Than Sex chocolate cake! I swear this is the best chocolate cake ever!! (craving right now) :( :(

They have merch up for grabs too! Let’s see.. I remember I saw a red, fluffy pair of handcuffs.. Love dice..

The ‘wala lang’ lights

Oh yes we will!

Gayuma ni Maria is located at V. Luna Extension (Maginhawa Street) Sikatuna Village, QC

Crazy Katsu!

Crazy about Katsu.

So much calories lost on the shoot! I dragged Louie and Gidds to Maginhawa Street, or what I’d like to call a food haven! Seriously, if you want to go on a food adventure and don’t want to spend ridiculously on a meal, then this is the perfect place for you. Louie and I loved our dining experience at Gayuma ni Maria (which I’m yet to blog about). And now there’s another one added to the list: Crazy Katsu! Talk about affordable AND yummy katsudon, this restaurant has it!

Louie browsing the notes I wrote from the photog class. Hehe.

From the looks of it, this spice is a SPICE! (Although it also looks like fish food) :P

KATSUDON! Ang bida ng gabi! I really like it!

I told myself I’m on a diet but I took a sidestep and had an additional order of gyoza. Hindi ko napigilan, grrrr

Happens ALL the time. Well atleast, for the Filipinos. Bakit pag isa na lang, nagkakahiyaan pa? Kunin ko na nga. -_-

I see myself coming back in the next few months. Four thumbs up! -that includes the big toes on my feet

Check this one out!

YABU: The House of Katsu

If you know me so well, then you know how much of a katsudon fan I am. I have been hearing a lot of good reviews about this what-they-claim-to-be an authentic Japanese katsudon place, so I insisted on checking it out.

The place looks so neat and spacious, and it had comic strips as wall decorations too. Coming from someone who’s job includes rendering excellent customer service, you would notice easily when you are provided with a poor one. And I must commend the Yabu staff for showing us otherwise, yay!

I loved the grinding-of-sesame-seeds part. Gotta love the smell of grounded sesame seeds!

Next, create your own sauce! You can add a few spices for an extra kick too.

Here is my creation!

Louie had the chicken katsudon set

..while I had the house specialty: Kurobota tonkatsu set! (Black berkshire pig -one of the finest in the world)

It was so soft and yummy. And did I mention all sets came with unlimited
rice and cabbage? YAY! Also, their bottomless iced tea is a winner!

“The bunny” Hehe. Imitating Cheese. :)

Their price range is not something that is practical to splurge into everyday but hey, food quality and service just makes it all worth it. We’re definitely coming back!

Yabu: The House of Katsu is located at 2/F Mega Atrium, SM Megamall.

Getting down on Friday.

Can I just say, that this has been THE longest Friday night for me? HAHA Japeth and Jeremy were both solid Franco and Razorback fans.. aaand so I got an invite for this P&P Tattoo grand launching event at Eastwood. ALSO, they held a 50% off tattoo sale! Pero good for the day lang.

Surprise of the night: A dude, (a sort of promotions/brand marketing guy) AMBUSHED us to be on an energy drink TVC. OMEGESH. I have no idea which channel it is most likely to get aired, but I’m guessing it’ll be on 2nd Avenue/ETC since I’m seeing a lot of events related commercials on those two lifestyle channels. Oh well. If you happen to spot a Joanna-ish girl on TV, PLEASE disregard, and put in your mind that it is just an illusion. Hahaha.

I’m not actually familiar with it but the world of wide web has informed me that it’s a US original, a MONSTER energy drink-like type of energy drink. HAHAHAHA Plus, I have watched this All Time Low music video promoting Rockstar energy drink (in various censor-worthy ways) when I liked their PH based page. (Okay so wish ko nalang na sana doon nalang i-upload yung commercial, at ‘wag nang i-air sa TV. LOL)

Haven’t got any picture of Franco due to some reasons soooo, what I have lots of are Razorback’s.

Crowd started to get filled up with fans for the last act of the night.

Securiteeeh!

MANOR naman pala :P

It izz blarred, sarry. Those OBEY shirts were really cool, I want one too.. with the ‘SECURITY’ print at the back, FYEAH.

OH. The one, and only complete picture of the gang. Which izz blurred tooooo. BOO. Japeth-Joanna-Jeremy! Look, 3Js! I realized it JUST NOW. Well let’s gow, J team. :P

BANCHETTO NIGHT! And t’was my first time there too! I just had to search for burgers right away when we got there. Burger monsters at Monster Burger. HAHA.

HA! LIA, ETO’NG SAYO! UGH. HAHAHAHA. Lia was supposed to join us on this trip but.. :|

I had an instant arteries-clogging grilled liempo with rice meal after the quarter pounder burger I ate. SARAAAAP. Too bad sobra akong na-umay and nabusog, so I didn’t get to have a slice of cheesecake. Sad. Sana talaga nauna nalang yung dessert no. :P

Grabbed some drinks at Metrowalk after pigging out at Banchetto. *insert pictures here* HAHAHAHA Got busy being a chatterbox so I forgot to take pictures. Anyway, I must commend Jeremy for being a responsible driver, and took a glass of water between intervals of beer. Still I insisted that we go for a coffee break, just to be sure. HAHA.

Faded P&P Tattoo stamp from the grand launching.

Starbucks Metrowalk. Surely, t’was kinda dark pa when we got inside….

And Mr. Sun’s up when we were about to leave. Hahaha.

Hitting the road to Antipolo! Now that’s spontaneous. Grabe lang. Hahaha. It rained just when we took a quick stop to Jollibee.

Finally reached CLOUD 9. No, I did not used an idiomatic statement. Yun talaga yung name. HAHAHA. T’was a little across Padi’s lang.. maybe 5 meters, something like that. Ang ganda lang doon. And it was like having a total escapade talaga. Yeah it was a cloudy to rainy morning pero I still appreciated the place, and the foggy/smoggy view. Perfect for hanging out and de-stressing.

Like a princess :3 HAHA.

Can you spot the dog?

This is a raw, unedited picture I took from my phone. Muma-macro! Looool I liked the raindrops effect. Parang, morning dew ang datingan. Hahahahaha.

Pigeon!

Well I liked it there because aside from the amazing mountain view, there were cool antique pieces on display, which goes really well with the place’s theme: vintage-ish. AND I LOVE VINTAGE STUFF.

Freaky fishy.

This Art Gallery makes the place even cool-er.

Going to the comfort room :P

Take two.

The ladies’ comfort room resembled a mini lounge area, with a really nice mountain view as well. Superb.

Garden fountain, vintage style. Ugh.

Perhaps the only thing which sucked from the whole trip was the terrible traffic. It was a long way home, pero I really enjoyed the spontaneous-ity from what’s supposed to be a Friday night out only. HAHA!

Here, I leave a Franco soundtrack for this whole thing.

Zark’s vs. Brothers

Tried Zark’s Burgers for the first time today from a spontaneous itinerary.

Best seller Major League burgers (left to right)

THREE POINTER : Burger with three kinds of cheese (mozzarella, cheddar & cheese sauce) served w/ lettuce, tomato, and caramelized onions.

BLACK MAMBA: Cheeseburger in a bed of fresh lettuce, tomato, sautéed mushrooms & caramelized onions, topped with BARBECUE RUM SAUCE.

An additional 20 pesos gives you fries and a glass of iced tea, and 40 pesos, to make it a 1/2 patty. Because this was a late lunch, I had the Black Mamba. The sauce was a little too sweet, but t’was okay I guess. I think the REALLY cheesy taste dominated the Three Pointer, but it was kinda good too. Be reminded that I speak in behalf of cheese lovers. Next time, I’d try the deep fried SNICKERS for dessert.. Or if I’d get desperate of committing suicide. Also, I was a bit surprised when a staff tried to pull off a Jonny Craig song from a playlist, followed by I See Stars. Hmm, great food.. AND good music.

Anyway, I’ve been to Brothers Burgers twice this month too, so I can’t help but compare which burger chain offers the most heart-attack triggering slushy meat in a bun.

And here’s what Brothers has to say.

Double Brothers Burger

Brothers Burger, with onion rings.

So? =))

Free as a falling leaf.

What happens when school is over (for good), you miss your friends, there’s a cool bazaar happening over a relatively cool place, and you’re making the most out of the remaining days before your graduation? Answer? A day of pigging out and shopping, hanging out by the sandy playground, “cool place” hopping, and more grass. AND burning of moolah, which is unmistakably their common denominator.

There were three destinations listed on our itinerary for the day, topped by The Grove, for the SuperSale Bazaar. I knew my girls would say yes right away after asking them out to tag along with me. Well bazaars never fail in becoming a really nifty shopping haven anyway, so we ended up with an awesome loot. Shopping has caused us a rumbling stomach so we had to check out a smattering of food stalls, and took advantage of the breezy tambayan for photo ops. The rest of the pictures were taken at Tiendesitas and Eastwood.

*takes a deep breath* SO, here goes the shenanigans.

Opss, lip biting. Hahaha.

Here’s when I get serious in eating.

1

2

And here’s when it gets less serious.

KC, DON’T!

Stuffed cheeks. Eh di alam na.

Hacienderas. Joke. :p

Hiiiiiii! :)

Colorful kicks!

Hi! Bye. :D

ROXY: “Nasan ba kasiiii?”

ME: *nomnomnomnom*

Holla chikas!

Jump shots are overrated but, who cares? I JUMPED! :) Hi Karen, what’s up? I mean, what’s down? HAHAHA

Karen and Erica = ♥

Find the diff.

Yeah right, I wish I was this fair. Faker picture, boo!

Transferring the photo shoot scenery from grassy to sandy.

I thought we bullied all the kids away?

OHA.

Ewan ko ba, pero mukha talaga syang resort. Or maybe it’s just the sand.

HI!

Photo kudos to ate-na-may-dalang-dachshund. Sya na.

Joke lang. Mas appropriate dito yung “Find the diff.” na caption. *points up and down in a hasty manner*

Showcasing some tweeting skills.

(At Tiendesitas)

Oh hello there, baby! :>

These people are crazy shoppers. That’s why I love them.

“The lights are now on us..
The stage surrounds us..
But it’s you,
It’s you I remember.”

Ay mali, inappropriate caption. Hahahaha.

Kaya lang, BAWAL. I’d remain unemployed for the rest of my life. Hello, future Flight Attendant.

*ARTI!*

Too pretty to get utilized and deteriorated, but cute enough to eat.

With all due perseverance, I insisted on having dinner at Fazoli’s in Eastwood.

AND THIS WAS WHY.

Oh %^$@# these tasty bread sticks! The fact that they’re an eat-all-you-can item is enough to keep em peeps comin back.

Or perhaps, to keep Joanna comin back.

PASTE-a. :p

Self-timered. Voila!

NAH, di naman nakakapagod eh.

Zzz..
