Babuyan Fridays!

Went out with two of my most favorite people and it was crazy! Our tummies went crazy, UST went crazy, everything went crazy! UST will forever be our meet up place and I’m sure this does not solely apply to our group. Also, I can’t remember the last time I was there, considering I live just a few blocks away. So near yet so far ang drama.

Anyway, KC was a little late so my bestfriend Karen and I had to meet up first and, HOMGGG we were so surprised at how the carpark building looks so much different now. Let’s see there’s Pancake House, BonChon Chicken.. I couldn’t recall the rest. Of course nandun pa rin ang McDo, KFC, Higher Grounds (of which clingy scent, or ODOR I could still recall. I’m sure everybody does. HAHAHA), Ice Monster, Imperial Kitchen, Greenwich.. My personal favorite, Ate Eva’s Grill and Pizzarollicious.. Pero ang pinaka unkabogable sa lahat ay ang 7-11 sa loob ng UST! It literally has tables and chairs for the students and to our awe, we took a few pics like we were outsiders and first timers. OFW ang peg.

Here’s KC and Karen in front of 7-11! (Wala nang Beanhoppers Coffee and Goldilock’s)

It was not supposed to be part of the blog but, whyyyy?? Bakit kung kelan wala na kami?! Hahaha. Anyway, vvvroom we go to Global City! Wow parang wala ako dun nung umaga. (I’ve been there in the morning for Victory’s Race For Life 2012 –but that’s another story.) So ano pa nga ba’t nagchismisan kami agad sa byahe! Hehe :P

Karen invited us to Mercato where his boyfriend Noel has a shawarma stall. M-E-R-C-A-T-O!! The fact that I work in BGC and haven’t gotten there ever is nothing less but ironic, so I was really excited!

Helloooo Noel!

IMG_6694

Authentic Lebanese shawarma! Noel’s brother, Nathan, makes the dishes and sobrang yummy! You guys might wanna check it out when you’re there. The chicken shawarma is only Php70!

IMG_6692

Okay here’s the fun part. While waiting for our shawarma we took the chance to go around. LOOK WHAT WE’VE FOUNDDD!

WARNING: May cause extreme cravings.

IMG_6703I SAW ISAW!!:) I had the large stick for Php 40. Happy Halloween!

IMG_6697This one looks familiar from college. And ngayon ko lang nalaman yung tawag dito. “DYNAMITE”. Sabagay, mukha naman. Dynamite din sa anghang. They should have removed the seeds and added more cheese :/

IMG_6713After the mighty dinner, we decided to hangout at the Big Bad Wolf! My newest favorite hangout place! Just look at my Instagram pic the other day ;) And, oh yeah they didn’t let me pay for the bill on my first visit so THANK YOU BBW! May acronym na talaga? Hahaha

Went back to Mercato because we got hungry! Woop woop! Yeah we’re monsters like that. KC and I shared an order of this fulfilling shabu shabu. Sobrang solb. I love shabu shabu! This, and a few other stuff I’ve put on my tummy before we left like chocolate peanut butter cheesecake. Hehe

Had so much fun! Glad to hear Karen’s going to be Manila based again soon so we’re going to see each other more often. More babuyan foodventures to come!

Hooray for food! Hooray for friends!

Librong Worm Part 1: The Happiness Project

Hi!! :D

I know I haven’t posted a single blog for the 2nd quarter of the year okay -_- Well except for the Megadeth blog (albeit posted in August, it happened in July so technically it’s not counted). I had to go through a lot of stuff and did not get the chance to blog. Hence, this post shall be tagged as the come-back blog! Yay! Hahaha.

I’ve always wanted to finish reading a book pero, ewan ko ba, it’s always either tatamarin ako magbasa when the story gets boring, OR, makakalimutan ko na may tina-try pala akong tapusin na libro! For realz! *And the Laziest of the Laziest-est Ass award goes to..* When I downloaded iBooks it never had a single content until just about 2 months ago. But I had crappy stuff downloaded on it so, meh, hindi pa rin sya naging interesting.    :( I’ve got site recommendations for eBook downloads but it didn’t work. UNTIIIIIL, Karen suggested I’d try ePub Bud. Okay naman! Pero may kulang pa rin. (But was a BIG help! Yay thanks Karen!) And when KC read my tweet about my ‘progressing’ eBook collection, she sent me a total of 360 MB of eBooks on email! -7 batches of compressed files, wazzap?! Very supportive! Hahahaha And it had some eBook versions of those I’ve been eyeing on Fully Booked for sooo long! Haaay. So many books, so little time -_-

I’ve decided to give this book the first shot. I love the attractive cover btw. Heehee

*Click the image to get redirected to The Happiness Project site!

I have to say that this book is living up to its name. I know because, I’m only on my 3rd night of reading it and I’m already on the 327th page (out of 1092)! I swear this time I can see myself finishing this book, I sweaarrr. I find it helpful at making its readers realize in details, the value of the things we do to attain happiness and that there is more to it than just a mere feeling. CHARRRR!

Kidding aside, I personally think that it’s a great book and it’s something that uplifts the spirit, and provides optimism! A perfect pick-me-upper, it is definitely worth your time.

What books/eBooks do you enjoy reading now? :P

Cheers!

MEGADETH Live in Manila

Attended the most hardcore concert ever, just after the day of my hardcore tooth surgery! I still made sure to be there after I was instructed by my dentist to have atleast 48 hrs of rest (reason being is to prevent bleeding and infection). How hardcore is that? I mean, I can’t just let my platinum ticket be put to waste, can I? -_- Aaaand, this happens probably once in your life soooo, kebs sa bagong surgery na gums! \m/

*Bare with me on a little downgrade on the pics.

Sobrang “trash” ni Gidds

YEAUUHHHH

My bodyguards for the night!

It’s either there is a grand funeral, or they tweeted each other to come in wearing the same shade.

Fans!

If not for the standing arrangement in the concert, I could have said that we had the best seat in the house!

Awesome show! Thank you Dave Mustaine! Although it could have been better if I caught a pick.. or your wristband -_-

You can tell that it’s going to be one rocking show by merely looking at the concert poster. And to give justice to this statement, I am inserting a video below to help you visualize how I have been crushed to pieces by a sea of black people. You don’t have to finish the whole thing. 1:13 of the video will tell you enough.

P.S.: DO NOT press the play button if you are expecting a clear, professionally created video a.k.a. Please understand that the situation is something out of control. He he he.

It was awesome! Felt like a total rockstar for a night. Hahahaha. Or at least, a rockstar’s girlfriend. No wait! I AM a rockstar’s girlfriend. :)) I’m so glad they granted my wish on hearing the songs I hope they’d play! Also, I would like to share this video of Louie doing his guitar solo from a show with his previous Megadeth tribute band back in L.A., Rust In Peace! Check it!!

@ THE House of Blues, Hollywood CA

Did I mention it was my first time to officially attend a concert? No? Well, there.

Keep those heads banging!

Superb by SuperSale

I love going to bazaars. You can score a lot of rare finds there, and they come in friendly price tags too! I actually think it’s better to search for upcoming bazaars than scheduled mall sales. I mean, it’s the least thing you can do for your pockets, without sacrificing style. :P

SuperSale Bazaar has been organizing the best bazaars lately and just recently, they launched Superb at the SMX Convention Center. Look at the participating brands!

Went inside the hall and told myself.. WOW I’M SEEING A LOT OF COLORS HERE!

Let the hunting begin!

Gotta love corset dresses!

Tarp wallets! I bet you can create this on your own, and it’s so fab too! Syempre I got one. Hehe

Make up! A girl’s guilty obsession.

It doesn’t hurt to have a cup of gelato after spending the whole afternoon walking. (Or not?)

Mint chips and salted caramel!

We’re on the second half of the year and I’ve been eyeing on a few bazaars already since I’ve been constantly receiving invites on Facebook. Also, what makes attending bazaars more fun is bringing your girl friends to shop with you! You know it doesn’t get more awesome than that.

Happy hunting!

Blog giveaway: Slimmers World International Gift Certificates

I was never really the health conscious type. I am a self-admitted stubborn and low maintenance person. I just eat and never really care about how I look and uhm, weight.. Until I gradually started gaining back inches I have already bid farewell to when I was in college. And this time, it was harder to lose.

Attended PFW with Karen. Yay!

My girls! Erica and Karen!

Sure I can eat anywhere and satisfy my cravings but, let’s just say I went a little too far. Haha. I miss modeling so much. I miss my old clothes. I miss touching my collar bones and seeing them even more. Not that I totally transformed into a ‘different’ person ha, if you know what I mean. It’s just that, I missed seeing those slender arms. (SLENDER?!!) Hahaha So I decided to finally say YES to fitness! :)

Just sharing this awesome Greenhills-Ortigas view from the gym at the 27th floor!

I was so excited to enroll myself at the gym. I bet it’s going to be the best thing I will do for myself this year. Haha. And what better way to lose weight (and not really deprive yourself from eating) than going on a Subway diet! I love Subway. It’s the only thing I eat after going on a workout, and not really feel guilty or anything.

I am such a busy bee, but I do try my best to still have a good workout at the end of the day. I want so much to have a good exercise before going to work, but waking up way too early is such a chore. Then again, kung gusto, may paraan. Kung ayaw… Yeah you know the rest, buddy. I have also scored some good reads regarding fitness and guides to gym equipments. I’m really this serious to getting back in shape, see? Hahaha. Now to help everyone achieve their fitness goal, I am giving away 3 Slimmers World International gift certificates worth 1,500 each! Yay! Put down that fork and say YES to fitness!

All that you gotta do is..

1. Follow me on Twitter: @joeyney

2. Leave a comment below with your Twitter username.

3. Share this post on Facebook or Twitter and put this hashtag: #SlimmersWorld

3. Winner must be willing to pick up the prize in Greenhills.

Deadline will be on June 30 at 11PM. Winners will be selected via electronic raffle and will be announced on July 1!

I’m saying YES to fitness! Are you?

Winners:

Julia Sy, Japeth Crisostomo, R. Jeremy Torres

Congratulations! :)

Let’s talk about beauty! Clinique, Kiehl’s, The Body Shop

My job entails having client meetings e-v-e-r-y-d-a-y plus a lot of walking. You can even hire me as a Greenhills tour guide should you need one. When I was younger, I didn’t know what kind of life existed along Annapolis Street. In fact, I didn’t even know it exists, ever. Hahaha. Okay my point is, hindi ba sobrang dyahe humarap sa kliyente pag pawis pawis ka na? Tapos yung face mo, makakaubos ng isang roll ng tissue pag nag-blot ka ng oil. I’ve always had a very oily and blemish-prone skin. I would’ve not splurge on good quality makeup if not for my bad skin. Also, the problem with me is that I’m very low maintenance. Just like going on a diet, I always tell myself to be more conscious and have a habit for taking care of my skin, and it doesn’t really happen. So I thought I would need something dependable.. a quality product that I could trust to give me excellent results.. WITHOUT requiring extra effort.

A couple of months ago, I went to Rustan’s Shang and got myself a Clinique toner.

If you are a fashion/wellness geek, you would know that Clinique products don’t come cheap. Thankfully, the sales rep gave me a couple of freebies (a cleanser and moisturizer) to try. Currently, I haven’t really consumed everything yet. I bought a tea tree oil cleanser from The Body Shop which I thought I could use more frequently. Initially, it was doing fine. I loved the cool feeling after washing but eventually, I started breaking out and decided to stop using it. Sorry Body Shop fans, but I think they have the worst products ever. I have such high expectations on them since they use organic and earth friendly materials, but I was disappointed. It did not do wonders for me, and I am not amazed at all so.. there. Even some of the Body Shop cosmetics I’ve tried are failures. Okay maybe “failure” is a harsh word. “Unsatisfactory”, maybe. I’m not saying that this goes the same for everyone, but atleast for the quality-vs.-quantity shopper me.

About three weeks ago, I was in Trinoma and I dropped by at the Kiehl’s kiosk. I’ve been wanting to try Kiehl’s for a long time now but I didn’t see the need then, until now that I got really serious about investing on a healthy skin. Somebody introduced Celeteque (their anti-acne line) to me so I bought (just two weeks ago), a skin clearing moisturizer. I’m liking it so far. It comes with an unscented, gel-type formula which I use before applying makeup and it gives me a matte finish! I love it that it doesn’t cause breakouts on my skin. I think I’m pretty happy with it so when I went to Kiehl’s, I just looked for something that would treat my pores. Oo na kung ano ano na pinagbibili ko. Hahahaha

Henry, the sales rep, recommended Kiehl’s Rare Earth Pore Minimizing Lotion to me, which is also a bestseller according to him. I’ve heard a lot of good reviews about Kiehl’s so I thought, why not give it a chance like everybody did? Although, let’s not forget about the price. Hehe. Henry assured me of the results so to keep me from doubting further, he gave me A LOT of freebies! Yay! By “A LOT”, I mean 4. :)

I’ve tried the lotion and I’m happy with the instant results! It’s very lightweight, and it dries quickly. Also, my skin felt so soft! I haven’t seen any dramatic pore-minimizing action yet, and I’m not expecting any in the next couple of days since I just started using it. Hopefully, there would be gradual improvements. I’m excited to try the freebies!

Now there are a few tips that I would like to impart to the girls out there who are daredevil shoppers like me. First, try searching for reviews about the product you’re eyeing on before actually making a purchase. Also, Quality vs. Quantity! If you think it would really work for you but the price is a little too off your budget, then don’t hold back yourself: It’s going to be worth it! But if the reviews tell you otherwise or if the price doesn’t give the product a justification, then scratch it off your list. Just because it’s expensive and all the celebrities use it, doesn’t mean it will do wonders for your skin too. Know your skin type, and read the labels!

-Love,

Joanna

Tuscano -Italian Wood Oven Pizza

Someday, I dream of traveling to Rome and having a slice of an authentic wood oven pizza. I am so much inlove with it because it’s 95% less oily than your regular baked pizza. Thus, less guilt! Hehe. Meanwhile, while my current budget capacity doesn’t permit me to travel to Rome, I will enjoy nomming on wood oven pizzas from the local pizzerias. Today’s food adventure is at Tuscano!

Hi Mar!

I was hoping it would work okay -_-

Complimentary bread, and a pitcher of fresh lemonade. Love the lemonade, so refreshing!

Yung pag may lakad kayong magbabarkada tapos ikaw ang may dalang bag.. Bag na din yun ng lahat. Locker? Hahaha This is Mar’s :) *oo na magulo na bag ko.*

Top of the list ;)

Cozy ambiance!

Wild mushrooms pasta

Pizzaaaaa! Half meat, half seafood

Indications of a wood oven pizza. Yum!

The Ghost of Krisha. *Weh*

Maybank recently announced it’s corporate tie-up with Tuscano and they’re giving away a free Tiramisu for Maybankers! Yay!

The Digital Photographer Philippines’ 6th Anniversary Party

You know something is meant for you when you don’t wish for it to happen, but it actually did. Finally, a photography related event! And it’s not just organized by any photography organization, it was DPP‘s! (which I think, is the best photography mag in the Philippines)

Look at the event details! Aaaaand, partners!

I am not a pro photographer. In fact, I’m not even sure if calling myself amateur is appropriate. But atleast I’m learning a lot so far, and I’m happy that I am able to apply the tricks I’ve been dying to learn so I think.. it’s is a great start! And I’m 80% self-taught, by the way. I credit the 20% from my (1 session) photography class, magazines (from DPP, of course), and helpful friends! Yay! Also, I “perfect” my shots from a trial-and-error method. That’s where everybody learn anyway. :)

Krisha, Mar, and I were on a stroll at High Street after an orientation at the company’s The Fort-based business center when we came into DPP’s event. Although I consider it “destined” for me to attend (or in this case, just drop by. -I have to meet Louie in Greenhills), I was so hyped up about it! It went on for the whole day, from 9:30AM to 12MN, and the event was seriously jam-packed of lectures from only the country’s top photographers, thank you very much. It came with a live/open shoot too! I really, really wish I had more time then so I could attend even just one from the schedule. I was particularly interested at IPHONEOGRAPHY (although I am not an iPhone user). I was hoping I could apply the techniques using my iPod Touch. Hahaha. I didn’t get so much pictures because I was busy looking around. Also, I regret this day that I did not approach Rico Blanco for a picture. Hehe.

Had a hard time choosing the perfect issue for me.

Scanning the contents :P

Scored!

Live shoot! (FHM ang peg)

Syempre fez ko lang yung na-detect. He he

Next year’s anniversary part is definitely something to look forward to, and I promised myself that I-WILL-BE-THERE.

See you next year, DPP!

I Know What You Did On Mother’s Day

I missed my family. I missed taking them out and having lunch with them. The day’s lunch after the MYOH event was very fulfilling, both on the tummy and the heart :) *NAKS*

Sisterette! Hehe.

The uncomfortable look. Haha

Cool Banana Leaf ceiling!

Good for 3! Missin dad!

Their ‘iced milk tea Hong Kong style’ is da best! I might actually buy one for take-out one of these days :))

Mrs. Fields’ cookie nibblers fan

Healthy choices! I wish I could find something like this in Greenhills.

From the looks of it, this might just be better than Subway! Well, tastewise siguro. And presentation. Hehe

Colorful fruits!

Paparazzi-ed shopping lipstick by Mean.

Happy Mother’s Day, mom! I know I am not a perfect daughter, but I look up to you for your tireless efforts on always looking out on Mean and I despite the physical absence of our father. Pasaway ako but I love you, that’s for sure, and I will (as always) strive hard to make you guys proud.

Make Your Own Havaianas 2012

I took my mom and sister out for a whole day treat at Rockwell, and the Make Your Own Havaianas event was in perfect timing just when I ran out of ideas for Mothers’ Day. It was my first time to attend the event since I remember last year, I was on a vacation somewhere.

The event was already on its 4th (out of 5) day when we got ourselves there so some stocks were already sold out, including the ocean blue sandal straps and aviator pins! Huhu. So I just paired my burnt orange Havaianas-fit soles with sheer violet straps and a bowtie pin, a crown, and JOANNA alphabet pins! Yay!

Thanks, Kenwyn!

I was so excited to wear them so I ditched my Toms espadrilles for my newly customized and colorful havs, right after this pic was taken by a kameraman! So cool!

It was so much fun! I actually planned on getting another pair but for practicality’s sake, I didn’t. I can’t always wear them anyway. Hehe. But atleast you are a hundred percent sure that you own a unique pair that no one else has! I am looking forward to next year’s event. I hope they’d include Havaianas-high on the list of the “customizables”.

Happy 50 Years, Havaianas!
